Spongebob: Went utterly downhill after the movie. Most of the episodes had completely idiotic plots and the characters dereailed into complete jerks. Blame writers Casey Alexander and Zeus Cervas for that crap! Also, they hype up normal episodes as a special. They even hyped up an 11 minute episode (with a terrible plot) by a 24 hour marathon!

Captain Planet: It got SWAT Kats (a good show) cancelled. Consequences for even the smallest acts of pollution are redicoulsy overblown and immediate. And it talks about stuff not meant for kids (population control, AIDS,). It made the conficlt between catholics and protestants look like a gang war or west side story. The only American on the team is a jerk, Which is why this show can never be taken seriously.
What do you think shades?

I found Ed, Edd n Eddy nostalgic (for the first couple seasons anyway). I mean in the end it's just about kids having fun in the summer and we all did stupid stuff when we were that age. Sneaking into R-rated movies, pool parties, building goofy stuff in dad's garage. but then again maybe I'm just getting old.
Well sir while I don't agree with (part of) what you say I'll defend to the death your right to say it =p

As for spongebob.....once again i'm reminded that my level of ability to ignore mainstream is godlike.
Bottom line, unless both can pull something as awesome as a dramatic speech about strawberry milk and late night bathroom use, I'll pass.

With Spongebob, I can agree. Spongebob is the only children's cartoon to get a Dethronign Moment of Suck subpage on Tv Tropes, with the other four cartoons all being adult ones (Simpsons, Family Guy, King of the Hill, South Park) the fact of the matter is that the series has gone downhill post-movie, with a few bright spots like the Pat Morita episode. Overall, Spongebob is a series that should have ended (which is what meant to after to movie) but still shambles on like a zombie.

-Spongebob, well, ignorance is bliss I guess. If it's a new episode I'll watch it mostly just because it's silly and supposed to be dumb I suppose. And just for fun, to quote a old Nicktoon: PINEAPPLES!!!!!
Here's a fun idea: have you seen the new Looney Tunes Show? I'm not saying it's bad, in fact it's really good, even if it's nothing like the original Looney Tunes.

Apparently media controls our brains
Just shut up
MEDIA CAN'T CONTROL A PERSONS ABILITY TO DO SOMETHING IT'S THEIR OWN PERSONAL CHOICE
It can put the idea in their head but it is the individual who is overall responsible for their actions
Don't say Spongebob and Ed Edd and eddy will fill your kids with trash society can do that for them and you know who else, the parents. So don't ban kids from watching shows because you think it's crap, (whether it is or not doesn't matter I don't care if people think it's crap I HATE Ed Edd and Eddy with a burning passion and I have a soft spot for the early Spongebob episodes but not so much now) My issue is with the "My kids will learn bad things from watching this," Yeah and you know what i learned, your friends aren't always your friends, they can be lying backstabbing bitches FROM PERSONAL experience not some show. TV doesn't equal life experience, the people your kids (or whoever) are around will determine what goes into their head.
Like I said before I DO NOT CARE IF YOU HATE THESE SHOWS I hate the fact people whine and complain the shows corrupt kids, no, not really, if you can properly teach kids right from wrong they can watch the shows and have no effect on them.
I never want to hear that argument again but apparently people don't realize this OBVIOUS point that it's just entertainment and not meant to be serious, the reason I am angry is because no matter what it is someone has to twist it so there's a problem when there really isn't so next time you want to just blame TV Music movies or whatever, check yourself b/c you might be the one with insecurities.
Seriously think about it, have you ever heard someone say I want to do this this and this because i saw it on Ed Edd and Eddy (unless it was something they built) then no, have you ever seen anyone do ANYTHING from sponegebob? Except sing the songs a million times to no end and quote episodes in its entirety No, so the show lies big whoop tv is just entertainment, don't like it get rid of your tv and any other form of entertainment you can't blame one thing and like the rest if one thing is bad it's all bad.
there I feel better now....

RE: Apparently media controls our brains
As I mentioned in my Nick Jr. Review, I take the lessons she learns on those shows, and help encourage them, as well as teach some of my own. She's a good little girl because of it, and I'm more than proud of how she's grown. After taking care of her and raising her the way she is now, I can expect her to make the right decisions later on down the road, so I'm not worried about what she sees on TV. That doesn't mean i'm not gonna talk to her about something she saw if it comes up.
I will never be one of those damn idiots like those who blamed Doom and Marylin Manson for Colombine. I don't care for Manson, but I'm not gonna say he's a murderer, and even I won't say Ed Edd n Eddy or Spongebob turn kids into theives and Liars. My point is more that Shows that encourage that kind of behavior just annoy me and piss me off. Again, I have problem with Mindless brain candy, I just don't like shows that insult my intelligence.

Well then...
Ed, Edd, and Eddy: Personally, I can't really take your opinion on this one too seriously. You gave off the air of an IGN reviewer who only watches/plays a small portion and makes their opinion. Have you ever watched ANY of the Urban Rangers episodes. Rolf is a complete douche in every single one. As far as the main characters, did you ever notice how Double D voices against Eddy's plan on a regular basis and that Ed is an easily-influenced sack of hammers? While on the subject, have you noticed that the scams in the show always fail. It pretty much shows you what scamming leads to. Another thing is that you are not meant to take any of it seriously. As previously stated, it is just about three guys doing stupid stuff in the summer.
Spongebob: I won't take too much time here, so don't worry. Now, I'm not defending anything after the movie, those are just plain awful. Anything before that is actually pretty good and taught legit lessons. For example, in one episode, Spongebob tries to impress Sandy by using fake muscles. When that fails, he is shunned for being a fraud. After he redeems himself, he learns that people will like him for who he is. I don't know about you, but that sounds like a legit, albeit generic, lesson.
Sorry if this seems long-winded, but I had to get that out. Like I said, I don't hate you, but I wholeheartedly disagree with you. Otherwise, great review and I look forward to your future reviews.

I'm glad to have a respectable counter-argument to mine, so thank you for being constructive about this. I never expect everyone to agree with me, but I would hope some of you would present a good debate. At least you enjoyed the video for what it is, if not what Is said.

I see the point of it insulting your intelligence but the point about kids learning wrong lessons from shows is arguable. A lot of shows will use a storyline where it isn't there purpose to teach kids bad lessons. More in the sence that they want to create a show with realistic views. Even with shows that can be seen as random stupid shows. I find it more wrong when kids are watching or listening to something that isn't meant for them but the person who makes the decision for them to watch or listen to that is just looking at one thing. I watched Animal Farm yesterday and that's a movie that tells the story of Communism through a war between animal & man. So even when the title doesn't say a lot about the movie it is still not a good movie for kids to watch. It has talking animals but it's not Cats & Dogs or 101 Dalmatians.

I can see what Shades is saying by these shows insulting his intelligence!
Even though I don't like Spongebob, I do feel like it's trying to teach kids lessons through it's episodic stories regardless of how absolutely dumb and just unbearable to watch the episodes are since I don't like any of the characters at all! The fact that there was a Spongebob movie just really makes me shake my head and ask myself why though.
Same with all of the terrible video games that stretch across multiple platforms!

I think my real issue with Spongebob is that it tries to be more than it really is. The concensus seems to suggest the Movie was the end of the good parts of spongebob, so i'm glad that most of our citizens are willing to acknowledge it's flaws.

And to whoever put the nostalgia critic cursing for like three minutes straight I found that hilarious. I love the Nostalgia critic he is awesome :) but that's another comment on another website that I haven't signed up for.
Getting back on topic I hope she doesn't pick up anything bad from the media if so it'll probably just faze out with time like all things related to the media does. for some reason the world likes to have stupid entertainment trends that just annoy everyone.

Btw, The guy who posted the NC clip is the same guy from my video: Spazzmaster. Go check out his series when you get a chance, his stuff kicks ass, even with the spongebob clips in it.

Spongebob Squarepants: Ok, this show suffers from the same problem alot of animated shows suffer nowadays; Decent-Great first few seasons with a lot of emotion and feeling (you know, that give me the feeling that they really want you to connect and relate to these characters), then slowly running out of good, well thought out material, and having to resort to parody and cliched stories in order to make new episodes. I say that the first, uh, maybe 2 seasons, weren't horrible, but i do see some problems. After that... ugh, it is just unbearable. And it's so... disgusting. And have you SEEN the amount of gore on this show?!? People's toe nails get ripped out by a table on his foot! His face peels off! His skin is all gone and we see muscle tissue! Mr. Krab's nightmarish face! Your child might have nightmares after some of these episodes. DON'T LET ANYONE WATCH IT!
Shows you should avoid; Avoid ANY of the Dan Schnieder sitcoms (Victorious, iCarly, etc.). These shows are just horrible, and they are so inappropriate (I don't need you to talk about boobs and bras, or have your characters going to mental hospitals! This is a kids show, not a japanese kids show (ba-zing!)) and bizarre that they make you stupider. In fact, alot of live action sitcoms for kids have these problems (like the disney channel crap of Wizards of Waverly Place, Shake it Up, and Good Luck Charlie). The CG shows (Fanboy & Chum Chum, Planet Sheen, Penguins of Madagascar), so stupid, you might lose brain cells watching the first two. although the ones on CN aren't too bad, i don't watch em. Problem Show, Mad TV, Gumball, don't watch em. anything live action on CN, don't watch it. If 4kids is involved with anything, never watch it.
Shows you should watch: The only ones i can recommend on nick are Big Time Rush (which has it's moments of smart and stupid, so your milage may vary), and obviously, Power Rangers Samurai. Supah Ninjas... i can't say anything about it, except, it just isn't all that enjoyable to me, but it could be alot worse. On Cartoon Network, I enjoy Regular Show and Adventure Time, for having some pretty fun characters and alot of good humor. Although, they probably are even funnier stoned. (however, they are definitely not shows you should show your daughter at this age), everything else is crap. On Disney Channel, Phineas & Ferb. Pretty smart, and I like alot of the humor on the show. And these are the only kids shows i advice of watching, everything else is stupid.
I hear Nicktoons has some pretty kewl shows, but i don't watch it that often.

It's me, Kainsword17. I completely share your views on these stupid shows. Another show that I can think of is Johhny Test, stupid main character, lame side-cast, dumb storylines and lazy animation.
I completely beleave that "The Amazing World of Gumball" is a FAR BETTER show then any of those wastes of animation (you should really check it out Shades, you and your kid would love it).
Kainsword17
Shows to never ever watch
Moving on I actually quite Enjoyed Ed Edd and Eddy... and I found it quite amusing that one of the Gundam Pilots I lothed the most was voiced by the guy who did Edd's voice... and it was more amusing to find out he did the singing voice for Sonic in Sonic Underground XD
As for shows to avoid (and that i'd LOVE to see you tear a new screw hole into) *takes deep breath*: Chowder, Marvelous Misadventures of FlapJack, iCarly, Adventure Time, Mad TV, Cow and Chicken, AND... Johnny Bravo... those are just for starters though... as that's all I can really think up at 3:32 in the morning...
