In the 33rd century of Mobius, King Maximillian Acorn was a great and just ruler until his former scientist Dr. Robotnik took over and banished him into another dimention. After, he captures most of the citizens and turns them into robots threw the invention, the Roboticizer. Luckily, some escaped including Sonic, Princess Sally Acorn, and Tails. They formed the group called the Freedom Fighters in order to restore Mobius to its shining glory and to end the rule of Robotnik.
My Thoughts: Now this is actually one of the best of the old Sonic series in my mind. The characters make me smile and yet, only Tail’s seemed to actually be taken into the other story lines. The characters are much more fleshed out, the backstory’s for most of the characters are told and explain a lot, just everything seems much better.
Now, there are a few downsides. Some of the backstory’s don’t explain everything and sometimes do mix up occasionally. Once in a while, they do something rather crazy and change the past or goes into side stories that don’t fit in the plot. They did this more in the second season and though the Wiki says it was to brake up the dark story, it just made it feel a little less put together then the first season.
The animation was actually pretty good in the days it was made and barely lost any detail work when it was made. The only problem I really have is the fact of the cell shading but that had to happen. I can tell when something is actually still and when it’s actually supposed to move and so it makes things a bit easy to know. The characters are well done and don’t fall into the sad style of being plain.
The voices are pretty well done and keep the show interesting. Sonic still has the rather crazy additude he was known for and sounds like a teen compared to the rest. Interesting fact that the guy who does Robotnik’s voice, Jim Cummings, actually is renown for his voice as Winnie the Pooh, Pete from Goof Troop, and Tasmanian Devil from The Looney Tunes Show. I love Sally’s voice, the soft nature of her feminan charm and yet she isn’t like the damsel in distress. Her voice makes her also sound very intelagent and older.
