This time it's Bowser's turn to get kidnapped

So, the Super Mario Bros. franchise. It's used the  "Princess Peach gets kidnapped" schtick so much it's basically become a video game's most enduring cliche (with "Ganon threatens Hyrule" coming in close second). So why not explore a new story?

So comes my new not-all-that original idea for a new Mario game, and I call it Super Mario Bros.: Save Bowser! Here's the premise:

Koopa Jr. comes to the Mushroom Kingdom to request something of Mario: save his papa and his home from a revolution. Morton Jr, Ludwig Von, Wendy, Larry and Roy have decided to entrap Bowser and carve up sections of the kingdom as their own fiefdoms. As a result, civil war has broken out amongst the five Koopaling factions and those still loyal to Bowser led by Lemmy and Iggy. With the threat of the war spilling out to the under equip Mushroom Kingdom, Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, And Koopa Jr. To sort things out and save Bowser.

So yeah, it's basically team up with the villains of the series. But there can be a lot  done with that premise. Having Mario work and lead Goombas, playing as Koopa Jr,  seeing Luigi hold the line to prevent the war from spilling over to the Mushroom Kingdom. It could  make for an exciting game. You could even have Bowser playable after you bust him out!

But that's just my idea. What would yours be?
